Scrolling & split columns

Windows scroll in a horizontal row of columns. Use arrow keys in leader mode to switch columns.

Split a column into up to three regions, arranged top to bottom and visible at once. Each region can hold one window or an app stack.

App window stacks

Tiled windows from the same app overlap in one region, with one visible at a time. Click a stack indicator at the top of the window or press ⌘` to switch.

In leader mode, press Space, then J to add the selected window to its app’s stack, or X to remove that window from the stack.

Fixed column

Pin a column at either edge. Other windows scroll beside it. Use Tab in leader mode to switch focus.

Pin Deck

Pin up to ten apps. Click the Pin Deck mark to add an app. Use an icon’s menu to remove it. The order is the same on all displays.

Sky Deck & Max Deck

Sky Deck lists floating windows. Max Deck lists native full-screen windows. Click an icon to return to its window.

Windows & desktops

Click a desktop number to switch desktops. In leader mode, type an icon label to select its window. Use Shift with 1–9 to move the selected window to another desktop.

Questions, answered

Which Macs can run Calmon?

Calmon requires macOS 26 or later. Apple silicon and Intel Macs are supported.

What permissions does it need?

Allow Accessibility access so Calmon can move, resize, and select windows.

Do I have to memorize shortcuts?

No. You can use the mouse for all window actions. Click the layout map to open the key panel.

Can I use trackpad swipes?

Swipes are off by default. Enable three- or four-finger swipes in Settings → Gestures. Hold Shift before a swipe to use the original macOS gesture. Keep the three- or four-finger gestures enabled in System Settings > Trackpad > More Gestures.

Do all windows tile?

Standard windows tile by default. Dialogs, settings windows, and windows with a fixed size float by default. Add app or title rules in Settings → Advanced.

Does Calmon move windows between desktops?

Windows stay on their current desktop until you move them. Use desktop numbers or leader mode to change desktops. Calmon restores saved window positions when you quit.

Is the beta free?

Yes. Calmon is free during beta.

How do I update?

Choose Check for Updates… in the Calmon menu.

How should I arrange multiple displays?

Place displays vertically for best results. Side-by-side displays block scrolling at shared edges. Column switching loops at these edges. With displays on both sides, background windows stack behind the selected window.
